The Pushover Appointment

An excellent piece about Steve Johnson, the man Dubya just tapped for the top position at the EPA. Sure, he's a scientist who feels strongly about sound environmental practices, but as Joan Mulhern, the senior attorney at Earthjustice says,
"It's hard to imagine that Johnson wasn't vetted for loyalty to the Bush agenda, or that the administration has any intention of bringing on board an independent voice."
I'll gladly eat my words if Johnson proves to be a strong character, willing to stick to his guns under pressure, but I've a sneaking suspicion I won't get that chance.

Another very good and in depth piece on Johnson can be found here.

Sadly, I can't seem to access the piece via my browser. I'll try again later.
